Dear Gwen, Deborah and the lovely LGW team
It’s hard to find words that express how wonderful, special, magical and seamless our wedding was on 9th July, nor how brilliant Gwen, Deborah and the LGW team were from start to finish. The quality of what you do – your organisation, professionalism, friendliness and personal touches – is second to none. This was echoed throughout our special day by so many of our guests, who were truly overwhelmed and enchanted by all elements of the wedding and the venues we chose. Thank you so much for making this so special for us!
When we initially started looking at wedding venues in Lake Garda and came across LGW, so many reviews were singing your praises and giving glowing references. These were surpassed when we experienced what you do first-hand. All details were explained thoroughly – even the silliest question or one that I’d probably asked ten times before were dealt with patiently and with a smile. Your organisation and grasp of everything we wanted was apparent, none more so than in our welcome meeting with Deborah, when she cheerfully walked us through everything that would happen, and went over what we had chosen. We were totally at ease leading up to ‘The Big Day’, knowing that you had your arms around it (and us), meaning we could relax and enjoy ourselves with family and friends and really make the most of this special time together. I found myself, sat on the terrace at our rented house on the Thursday afternoon, having a glass of wine with a friend, astounded at how calm I felt… something that I really hadn’t expected with 55 guests flying in, a ‘hen’ that night and a wedding only two days away. This was purely down to you guys!!!
Some of our highlights –
-The castle… a fairy tale perhaps? The most perfect setting on the most beautiful of days.
-The service – Given it included quite a bit of legal wording, was in Italian and required translation, it could have been stilted and a little dry and formal. The registrar was welcoming and smiling throughout. Deborah translated, which was quite special for us, as we felt we knew her and she delivered the words so warmly, gently and with such feeling. The consensus from all there was that it was a beautiful and happy service. The musicians were a talented duo who entertained and enhanced the mood.
-The photography – Gwen, the pics are just fab and many complimented on your swift and cheerful organisation, getting maximum results from family & friends shots with minimal time in the sun (so they could go for their ice creams!). Kenny & I had great fun doing our pics too – while Kenny wasn’t too sure about being classed as the ‘prop’, he was most grateful that, by & large, you managed to get his ‘good’ side! We won’t mention the questions thrown up about Fluff (?!)
-The Tuk Tuk – We paraded through the streets of Malcesine like royalty (or at least B list celebs!). Much cheering, waving, photographs taken and good luck wishes were thrown in our direction, by strangers, as we passed. Shades on, we enjoyed our moment of fame.
-The lakeside reception was fab, with fizz and nibbles that kept everyone going. Much needed, given we married at 11am and dined at 5pm. Bar Al Porto allowed us sole use their lovely terrace, which gave a welcome break from the sun and gave people opportunity to catch up and admire the lake views ahead of the boat trip. The boat trip went in a flash; a lovely way to view the castle and what a way to dock at the restaurant! Of course, we had to do the ‘Titanic’ pose at the front of the boat as we came in to dock!
-La Voglia. WOW! Amazing. The food was to die for (all SEVEN courses!), the service impeccable, the mood friendly and efficient, the location stunning. A few of our guests going for a swim between dessert and coffee was slightly unexpected but adding to the occasion; it was all so relaxed! Many dipped their feet into the lake to cool down during the dancing! Christian is to be commended for his friendly manner and superb organisation & his staff for their brilliant service. We’ve put a review on their website!
-The DJ was excellent, he included music we’d chosen and added in a few mixes of his own which saw the dance floor full. Singing and dancing were loud and hilarious!
-The cake – we had millfoglie with fresh fruit on top. OMG it was melt in the mouth tasty! I would highly recommend this. We had friends staying on for another week after the wedding, who scoured Malcesine in the hope of finding this cake in a bakery, so they could taste it again!
-And finally, the organisation. Deborah was out & out brilliant, leading up to and on the day itself. Ever friendly, discreetly in the background, making sure we moved when we needed to and that everything ran smoothly. One guest’s strap broke on her dress, which could have caused eyes to pop. Emergency! A hasty question to Deborah – did she had a pin or a sewing kit? … she had both!! Ready for every eventuality, to make sure our day was super special.
To every one of the team and to those you work with, who made our day what it was, a massive ‘thank you’. We have wonderful memories, made in a gem of a place that not only we, but many friends and family, will visit again.
