Dear Annabel and the LGW Team,
We want to say thank you to everyone at Lake Garda Weddings. From the first email to the moment we left Malcesine as Mr and Mrs, we felt like we were the only Bride and Groom in the world! When we got engaged in Garda in 2015, we had never considered getting married anywhere but the UK. But after searching for the perfect location close to home, nothing really set our hearts alight. On a whim, we looked on the internet for places to get married in Italy and we came across the Lake Garda Weddings website. The reviews, the photos, the location, the restaurant…it ticked all the boxes and more. We emailed Gwen and we were sold – Malcesine was the place we wanted to get married.
A skiing accident at Christmas 2015 meant that I was unable to fly to Italy to see the castle, our accommodation, La Voglia or meet with the LGW ladies before the wedding – we had to put complete trust in them…and we are so glad that we did.
When we arrived in Malcesine and met with Annabel, she put us both instantly at ease. Everything was arranged, booked and ready for the big day. We were able to sit on a bench in the sunshine and finalise the last few bits – it was almost surreal how relaxed we both felt. For us, it was perfect.
On the day, everything just fell into place. The bridesmaids and I went to the salon, where the ladies took amazing care of us and we were incredibly happy with the results. I had a make-up and hair trial but decided on something different on the day, Tiziana just took it in her stride and did the most amazing job of my hair. Annabel even popped by to see if we were all ok.
When Gwen arrived at the hotel, she began to take some photos and she knew exactly what to do to make us all feel a little less awkward. Gwen has an excellent eye for detail and knew just where to take the best pictures within the hotel grounds. We chatted as we moved from one location to the next; it felt as though I had known her for years. She even helped my changed my underskirt when I realised it was inside out!!
The tuk-tuk is a must! Luca made me feel like a princess as he kissed my hand and escorted me to the tuk-tuk. Driving through the town to the castle is like nothing else, as the crowds stop, wave and clap. He chatted away and made it seem like the most normal thing in the world. My Dad loved the whole experience.
When we arrived at the castle, the weather took a turn. Gwen and Annabel kept calm and asked if we’d like to bring the ceremony forward slightly so that we could still be married on the terrace. The answer was obviously yes and then everything began. The ceremony was perfect. The Italian Official and Annabel conducted the proceedings and it was all so romantic, even if I did get the giggles when saying my husband’s name!
After the ceremony, we had photos with Gwen and it was completely perfect. We whizzed round the castle to avoid the rain and took shelter whilst the shower passed. The rain didn’t dampen our day, if anything it added to the whole experience. We couldn’t have had any control over the weather and on the best day of our lives, it really didn’t matter!
We took the boat to La Voglia and we were greeted by Christian and the team. The food and service were amazing, as per all the reviews. Our guests still rave about the menu to this day! We were overwhelmed with how amazing the whole day was. When we eventually retreated to our hotel, we sat on the balcony as Mr and Mrs and decided we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Thank You for everything you did to make our day so unique, amazing and unforgettable.
Tara and Kevin
